"Will Metro be releasing a beta for A2?"
--Yes. We will probably do it through one of the DC magazines. Sega
restricts our ability to directly produce units.
"For net test?"
--Yes. That would be the main objective of the test.
"Will there be a single player?(from what I'v heard doesn't look that
way)"
--There is a single player. You can play single player for a long time,
and then later decide to welcome people off the net to come visit your
world.
"Will you be able to play w/ 4 people off on consle on the net play?"
--You can either play multiplayer on the one machine or on the net, but
not mixtures of the two (you can't have two people on one machine and two
people on the net in one game world).
"Can you gain money (credits) off line?"
--Yes.
"Will it feature VMU support? (showing heatlth,lives,exp.,credits.)"
--We will show some more detailed stats.
"What type of stats will be displayed?"
--We are still arguing about how many and what domain of stats. Some folks
don't want to scare some console players who don't like stats, and some
folks want to give people a better idea of their strengths and weaknesses
to help them make decisions.
[I got some e-mail from people saying "who is 'Jettison' and why won't he
give me back my Shiva?"]
--We will be redoing the interface from scratch for A2.
"I think the game will also gain from a map of sorts. A place to put in
coordinates."
--We do have a mission status screen and there is a large scale star map.
"I bought a missile rack that fires twin guided missles. I'm not noticing
a difference."
--For A2, we will make these bonus weapons stand out more visually and
feel stronger.
"Will there be more clans? The book said,"But, six...." Does this mean new
races?"
--There are only six player races.
"Will the races interact differently w/ each other?"
--The six races are much more distinct.
"Man, I know I would love the abilty to walk around the station."
--We will probably not do this.
"How about hiring helps to escort you to places?"
--Yes.
"Will there be a story behind A2?"
--Yes.
"Are we going to see more story in A2? The first Armada was awesome, but
obviously didn't have too much in the way of RPGness."
--Yes.
"Will the mission in A2 be the same as A1 (talk with leaders, go out
kill/deliver, come back), or will they be more in depth?"
--Depth. A2 is much more of a living simulation that you are swimming in.
"In A2, are the armada going to attack us on our home planets?"
--Yes.
"Or are we going to have to go search and destroy like on A1?"
--Sometimes.
"Will Armada2 feature force feed back?"
--Yes.
"VMU games?"
--No.
"Will A2 feature the DC camera support?"
--No.
"Will you still use WindowsCE?"
--Yes. WinCE has improved a lot. The reason why so many WinCE games did
not ship yet is that the SDK was incomplete and not optimized. We felt
like we helped develop the WinCE SDK, which is now 10 times faster and
easier to use.
"Will A2 have a better sound track? Not to sound negative but A1 was a bit
lacking in the msuic department."
--A2 has a different musical style altogether.
"Will the same graphics engine be used?"
--No. We built a new M3DEngine that is superior.
"Will it still be a top down shooter where the action is along one
vertical plane like in Armada?"
--Yes.
"Can we expect CG rendered graphics of our ships and possibly enemy
ships?"
--No, but we are planning on showing a big real-time render of all the
player ships in the background when you are looking at your inventory.
"Can we expect to see some CG?"
--Do you mean movies? No. Movie resources don't add much to a game. I'm
putting all our resources into things the players can enjoy.
