"I'm sure this has been on every ones mind, will your save follow over from Armada to Armada 2?"
--Yes and no. Your character will carry over, but you will only gain a starting level bonus and a special status (like "Legendary").

--The transfer from A1 to A2 is a level bonus (calculated after your normal A2 level is computed) and a status bonus (we have not explained this yet other than to say some of the statuses are called "Veteran" and "Legendary"). (added 5/1/00)

"Will it be free to play online?"
--It is free to play A2 on-line.

"Could you please explain this clan thing to me?"
--A clan is like a club of people that work together for mutual benefit, like a corporation. Clans compete together like sports teams. In A2 we are building team-oriented game elements to make having clans more fun and rewarding. There is a big incentive to trade and experience various game worlds in A2, so diverse clans will make for more fun gaming experiences. Clans make playing games much more social and dynamic.

"Will I be fair game to anyone and everyone, or will I declare myself as a player killer. In online games that I've seen so far (for the pc), you have an option on whether you are a player killer or not. And in other games there are designated areas for player killers, so I'm curious how you are going to handle this."
--A2 is totally cooperative. You cannot kill other players, ever. If you want to support a guild, you can visit their world and help them solve missions. You can also trade. You will really hurt guilds by not trading with them, since no region of space has everything.

(a few days later...)
Based on people's comments, we are considering allowing PK in A2. It does not really work properly with our system for A2, but a lot can happen in the next 6 months. Whether we add it or not, there are still many ways to compete with other players other than roving around each other and shooting each other's ship. A2 has ranked worlds based on economic, technical, and military status. There are on-line missions with race and scavenger-hunt elements to add to clan fame. There is much more to competition than direct combat.

"Are there going to be bases for the clans?"
--Every game you start is automatically a unique clan world. Through solving missions, you build up colonies, stations, and defense forces. If you want to have the best clan world and starbases, build up that world with your team. We let you run your machine in server mode so your clan can pump that world 24/7. There will be three major rankings for different categories. The top five worlds will be displayed on the page, and this will also officially advertise your clans web page. Alliances between worlds will greatly enrich the trading partners.

"What's up with this whole A2 thing and how are we going to be able to play with our clans and how are we even going to know who are clan members are?"
--Here are some traits of A2 that facilitate clans:
1. When you start the game, you are in your own generated "game world" which is part of a much larger universe (though your game world is infinite).
2. No two game worlds are identical. Your world will generate items, challenges, and Armada units that are not present in another game world.
3. This game world is owned by you, and you are ranked by its military, economic, and research performance (characters are ranked separately).
4. You can enter a clan web page in part of the world profile. This page will be displayed on the Armada page, and on our server (if you are ranked). You will list your clan members on your page.
5. You can leave your DC on in server mode, and only allow people with the clan password to come in to pump up your game world.
6. The are certain clan events on the server that require 4 clan members, and special clan items (super expensive items that are owned by your game world, not your character--it takes a group of people paying into the clan coffers to buy these types of items).
7. There are some more clan-oriented aspects of the game, but they will have to remain secret for now (due to a mixture of "still working on it" and "don't know quite how to feasibly do it yet").

"Do we get any credit from you guys for the start in order to create a clan?"
--No. We might start your world out with a money account that can only be spent on public/"clan" goods, but we have to figure out how to do this right.

"And most importantly, is there a limitation for clans?"
--There are no limits, but the game gives a strong incentive for many small clans rather than one large one.
